Cottari Kanakaiya Nayudu (1895-1967)
CK Nayudu is the first Indian Cricket Test Captain born in Nagpur on 31 October 1895. He made is first class debut 1916 for Hindus against Europeans.
First Test Captain
CK Nayudu is the first Indian Cricket Test Captain. He captained Indian in the first test tour of Indian to England. Despite of his severe injury pain in his hand he played for the country at Lords Ground.
He is one among the few cricketers to be played first class cricket in 6 different decades. He made his last appearence in Ranjit Trophy in 1956-57 in the age 62 scoring 52.
CK Nayudu is the first Indian Cricketer to be honoured with Padma Bhushan.

Cricket In India

India is the most cricket lovable nation in the World, as even cricket is considered to be a seperate religion in the country.

The game Cricket was found by British people and they spread the game in all the countries under their controll. Britsh introduced Cricket to India in 1700`s. It was Parsi community which formed Oriental Cricket Club in India the first Cricket club to be established by Indians.

In early 1900`s few Indians went to play Cricket for English Cricket Team such as Ranhithsinji and K.S Duleep Sinji they were highly appreciated by the English Cricket Team that caused their names to be used for two major Indian Cricket Domestic Trophy Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy.

Indian was invited to Imperial Cricket Council in 1926. Indian National Cricket Team made its Test Cricket debut 1932 lead by CK Nayudu.

By the introduction of One Day International Cricket in 1971 the Cricket trend in the World has changed. The Cricket World Cup was conducted for the first time in 1971 and Indian won the 3rd World Cup Cricket in 1983 under the captainship of Kapil Dev.

The latest version of the Cricket is Twenty20 Cricket which became very famous from its inception itself since it is the shortest version of the game makes the Cricket fans very much addicted to the game. The first Twenty20 World Cup was won by Indians under the Captainship of Mahinder Singh Dhoni.
